Apex Legends Is the Best Battle Royale and It's Not Even Close
by Andrew T. · 600+ hrs · Pathfinder main · Mirage enjoyer

Every other battle royale is playing checkers while Apex is playing 4D chess doing backflips off a zip line. The movement system is the real star — slide-jumping, wall-bouncing, tap-strafing. No other shooter makes you feel this fast. No other shooter rewards mechanical skill this consistently.

Legend abilities add variety without breaking gunplay. Every gun feels distinct. The ping system revolutionized squad communication. And the ranked grind from Bronze to Predator is the most addictive progression loop in multiplayer today. I've rage-quit more times than I can count. One more game. Just one more.

Hades Made Me Love Dying
by Sebastian N. · 30 escapes · It's complicated
What if death wasn't failure — it was the point? Every run through the underworld feeds the story. You're not grinding. You're living. Combat is Supergiant at their tightest. 30 escapes in and I'm still finding new dialogue. That's not a roguelike. That's a novel you play.

Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite's MP Is Everything MW3 Should Have Been
by Andrew T. · Big Team Blast veteran · Semper Fi
343 finally remembered: Halo is about sandbox chaos. Arena Slayer at its purest, the BR starts feel like actual Halo, and the grappleshot is the best mobility addition since the sword. The monetization is rough but the gameplay? Chef's kiss. Seventh Column, signing off.

Return of the Obra Dinn

Obra Dinn Is a Puzzle Disguised as a Ghost Ship
by Sebastian N. · 62 fates determined · Brain damaged
A ship returns to port. Everyone is dead or missing. You have a watch that shows each person's moment of death. Now work out who killed whom, how, and why. 1920s Macintosh aesthetic. The most original game I've played in five years.

Overwatch 2 Has Me Actually Excited Again
by Andrew T. · Support main · Sigma fan, sorry
I was done after PvE-gate. But the new balance pass, new map, and meaningful battle pass pulled me back. 5v5 finally clicks. I might even touch competitive again. Might.

Katana ZERO

Katana ZERO Is Synthwave Noir Perfection
by Sebastian N. · 200+ deaths · Chronos feels good
A time-manipulating assassin navigates a neon city questioning reality, memory, and employer trust. The pixel art slaps. The synthwave OST slaps harder. The ending hits like a truck. Every death is a lesson. Every level is choreography.

The Remake Argument

Andrew says yes, Sebastian says it depends, everyone's wrong
Andrew T. — Pro Remake
FF7 Remake took the best JRPG ever and made it better. Dead Space Remake is the gold standard. Resident Evil 2, 4 — all better than originals. If a remake honors the original AND modernizes it, that's respectful, not lazy. Some 2005 games simply can't hold up mechanically. Give me a remake any day.
VS
Sebastian N. — Skeptical
I'll grant you FF7 Remake. But for every good remake there's five cash-grabs. The GTA Trilogy "Definitive Edition" is a war crime. The idea that every old game needs a $70 remake is lazy publishing. Let old games be old. Re-release them, up-res them, but don't pretend a ground-up remake is always the answer.
FF7 Rebirth
Andrew T.
FF7 Rebirth Is the Best JRPG Remake Ever Made
by Andrew T. · 100 hrs · The Gold Saucer alone is worth it
The original remade into a real-time action RPG with open-world scale — and it WORKS. Combat is snappy, characters are deeper, music rearranged to be even more epic. This isn't a remake. It's a love letter to everyone who mashed X through the original.

Stray

Stray Made Me Want to Be a Cat
by Sebastian N. · Downloaded for TikTok · Stayed for story
You're a cat. You fall into an underground robot city. You ride a drone. You knock things off tables. 5 hours of pure dystopian neon atmosphere. Short? Yes. Perfect for what it is? Also yes. The most tactile feline movement ever programmed.

01
Hotline Miami
Andrew's Pick
'80s ultra-violence, an all-time soundtrack, and a plot that made me question everything. Put on a mask. Do crimes. Question reality.
02
Persona 5 Royal
Sebastian's Pick
Red, black, and jazz. A JRPG that looks like an anime directed by Tarantino. Every menu transition is art. The Phantom Thieves steal my free time.
03
Satisfactory
Andrew's Obsession
Build a factory on an alien planet. More conveyor belts than thoughts in my head. It's beautiful. Send help.
04
Neon White
Sebastian's Pick
Speedrunning as a card game. Every level can be beaten in under 10 seconds. You'll spend an hour shaving off 0.3. Addictive.
05
Risk of Rain 2
Andrew's Chaos Pick
Start weak. End the run as an actual god. Die at minute 40, survive to 60 and kill 1000 enemies simultaneously. Beautiful chaos.
06
Obra Dinn (Again)
Sebastian Won't Shut Up
I know Sebastian already reviewed this. I don't care. 62 fates. A ghost ship. Every death a puzzle. Play it. That's final.

To Andrew

"Apex at 10/10? Finally someone who understands movement > gunplay. Andrew gets it."
— Gr. 11, Movement GOD
"The remake debate was rigged. Andrew wins because he's right. FF7 Remake is a fact, not an opinion."
— Gr. 10, JRPG Elite

To Sebastian

"Hades is life. Hades is love. Hades is the reason I failed my math final. Worth it."
— Gr. 12, 45 Escapes
"Please review Cuphead. Sebastian would love it. Hard to play, easy to respect."
— Gr. 11, Recommendation Dept.

General

"Issue 2 is better than Issue 1 fight me. The synthwave aesthetic is just *chef's kiss*."
— Anonymous, Has Opinions
"Who writes the debate sections? Because Andrew vs Sebastian is my new favorite content."
— Gr. 9, New Reader
